"वाँ वो गुरुरे इज्ज़-ओ-नाज़, याँ ये हिजाबे पासे-वज्-अ

Ghalib says that his beloved is elusive for
him everywhere either at her spots of merrymaking or in streets. At one place
she is in her pride of beauty and attractive demeanour and so damn cares about
Ghalib and at other, she keeps her faced fully covered by veil like an ideal high-cultured
lady.
In essence, he wants to say that most
coveted things are most elusive as well.

Ghalib says that the
people are so hypocritical nowadays that they decide to do good works only when
they don’t find any way to fulfill their wanton desires in a wrong way.
In next ‘sher’, he says
that his self-styled well wishers came to console him in his grief and exuded
too much of sorrow. As a result of this, he (Ghalib) became much more depressed
whereas his well wishers remained absolutely normal.
