Ghalib  says that it is futile to remind your beloved of the promise of love made by her if she is likely to retort that she can’t recall it. In next sher Ghalib says he is non-believer of the religious thought about the final day of the universe ( kayamat)  when every worldly thing will perish and people will get heaven or hell as per their entitlement based on their deeds. This is because nothing can be more destructive than the night of separation from beloved.
CONTEMPORARY MEANING of the first sher is that it is futile  to remind the political leaders of their promises made at the time of elections as they would not remember them after the elections. The message of second sher is that the deprived class should not waste time in searching solutions through religious rituals rather they should raise their voice strongly against the unjustified deprivation meted out to them.

Ghalib says though his beloved exists in every thing since he sees her picture in everything but notwithstanding this no article/ thing is like her. In next ‘sher’ he cautions people not to be caught in the net of false feeling of self-existence. Ghalib says howsoever he might cherish the idea that he is existing in the world of his beloved, the reality is painfully the adverse.

The gist of the sher is that though anyone may extract satisfaction from any article/ person but nothing in itself represents satisfaction. Also, it is silly to think about oneself that one possesses  importance for others. You are liked by other only to the point you are useful for them. It’s your usefulness and not you which matters for others. You yourself exist nowhere.
